Pour One Out (a Milk Shake, That Is) for the Cheyenne

The Daily News reports that the Cheyenne Diner is closing so that George Papas, owner of the rival Skylight, can build an apartment building on its site. The City That Never Sleeps doesn’t have as many 24-hour eateries as you’d think, and its old-time diner population is dwindling (the Moondance relocated to Wyoming last July; the Munson also closed), so we’re sorry to lose this one — as are Chelsea clubbers, no doubt. Papas says the bottom two stories of the building will likely be a restaurant, but the chances of it having as much charm as the Cheyenne are slim.
