The law requiring calorie counts on chain-restaurant menus goes into effect on Monday (the New York Restaurant Association is suing the Health Department in the meantime), and it applies to bars, too! According to the Post, almost none of the bartenders at Applebee’s, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Hard Rock Café, Olive Garden and T.G.I. Friday’s had a clue that drink menus were supposed to have calorie info. Since the city announced that they won’t be levying fines until May, no one is too worried about it. A Bubba Gump server shrugged off the information entirely: “I don’t think it would help us. We’re not exactly a low-calorie restaurant, which is why I don’t eat here.”
