The (strictly professional) love affair between Paul Teutul Sr. of TV’s American Chopper and ectomorphic RUB owner Andrew Fischel began with a hour-long special about the creation of a chopper with a meat-smoking sidecar and soon led to RUB cooking for Teutul’s wedding. Now the unlikely pairing has led to a major joint venture.

A source very close to the situation tells us that the two will open a 16,000-square-foot motorcycle-and-barbecue superstore in the immense Palisades Mall. We don’t know what the motorcycle situation in North Jersey is, but we can say that there hasn’t been much in the way of first-class barbecue (although we like Elizabeth’s Front Street Smokehouse pretty well). The opening will be the second big one RUB has planned for this year (a 10,000-square-foot operation will opening in Vegas come September) but not necessarily the last — our source says there are more bike-and-BBQ joints on the way. With Fischel’s brain and Paul Sr.’s brawn, we would expect nothing less.
