What To Do Tomorrow

Let’s face it: there is a common thread that unites all of us in this world. Young or old, gourmand or naif, on the Fourth of July, we want to see the fireworks. The classic way to do this, of course, is to head on down to the Esplenade, but that involves a lot of sitting outside and massive crowds and having to go early to save a space and for us, it’s never been quite worth it. We prefer to suck up to friends with good roof access, but if you have no such people, why not check out one of the Fourth of July parties being held at advantageously located Hub restaurants? Below, three of the best.

•For spectacular views, it’s hard to beat Top of the Hub. Their $175 four-course menu is packed with summery good eats like braised short rib with lobster and mascarpone ravioli, white asparagus and a summer truffle sauce. There will be hors d’oeuvres at 7 and dinner at 8 before the fireworks at 10:30. Call (617) 536-1775 to reserve.
•If you just can’t get enough of the great outdoors, spend the evening at dante. There will be ample gourmet food and fun on the Charles from 6pm-2am, all for $90. Tickets can be reserved by calling (617) 497-4200.
Azure’s festivities combine old-school New England charm (dishes like grilled corn chowder with rock shrimp fritters, buttermilk onion rings and fried basil, and blueberry pie with buttermilk ice cream) with very modern style (the roof of the Lenox Hotel). Things get underway at 7:00 and you can purchase tickets, which cost $100, by calling (617) 933-4800.
